Not all pies are created equal - Hooiser Mama Book of Pie

Pie is one of those things that feels like a simple luxury but in reality is difficult to execute at a high level. Each element needs to be equally elevated to create that perfect bite.

A reader recommended that I read and test the Hooiser Mama Book of Pie and I’m so grateful they did.

📖 The story is beautifully written (I’m a sucker for anyone sharing how they’re pursuing their dream)

📸 Beautiful photos that show each recipe and techniques

🔪 Recipes are not challenging but detailed and require time. Definitely for someone comfortable with baking and looking to elevate their skill.

Dang, That’s Good 😍

High Protein Vegan Desserts & More

Fun Fact: Vegan cookbooks are always one of my most requested genres. I totally get why too, because when a vegan cookbook is great its truly a game changer for someone looking for those specific recipes.

Fabulously Vegan was recommended to me by one of you and is created by content creator, Leila Hannoun. The cookbook is straight to the point and features vegan recipes that are also high protein.

There’s an entire section dedicated to Biscoff, which is one of my favorite things. I randomly selected a recipe from there and made Biscoff Protein Brownie Bars.

If you’re not comfortable cooking with metric amounts, this cookbook may poise a challenge. Once I did the conversions, I was shocked at how easy and tasty the brownies came out.

Fair warning, they are not the tried and true brownies that you associate with the word but for no animal products and being protein packed, they were super tasty.

Talk of the Town

Not just for the holiday’s

I love when a cookbook can be used for more than just one season or event. Great recipes can be added into the rotation any time of the year! So, when The Mississippi Kween realized her third cookbook dedicated to the holidays, I knew I had to have it.

If you don’t follow, The Mississippi Kween on social channels, you definitely need to. Her recipes are easy, family favorites and her personality and commentary is so funny.

The cookbook is straight to the point and filled with family favorites that cannot be missed at the holidays but also work for anytime entertaining. Each recipe has a QR code so you can cook right along with her or see how she does each step for help.

So disappointed

I love chef Jet Tila. He’s fun to watch on TV and always has great recipe ideas. When one of you reached out asking me to test, 101 Thai Dishes To Cook Before You Die, I couldn’t say no. I mean that title alone had me hooked.

There were a few ingredients for the recipe that I really struggled to find. Even after going to a specialty grocery store I still had to make some substitutions.

I should have known that things could take a turn for the worse when the picture of the dish in the cookbook showed broccoli in it and broccoli wasn’t on the ingredient list!

I’ll let you watch and see what happens but this one was a giant let down.
